Southampton Travellers CC

The Cricket Pitch at Lordshill Recreation Ground is the landing site for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, which will land on either the outfield or the square before patients are transferred to Southampton General Hospital.

Therefore, should a helicopter need to land during a game, the game will be suspended immediately (NO EXCEPTIONS) and everyone shall clear to a safe distance (near the scorers hut and changing rooms).

The game will not resume until the medical crews have completed their work and have cleared the area (AGAIN, NO EXCEPTIONS); this may take some time as the vast majority of the patients are in a critical, potentially life threatening conditions meaning that, on occasion, the airborne medic needs to hand over to the A&E crews at the Hospital personally.

The air ambulance may turn up at any time and it is crucial that the medical professionals are able to work quickly and without interruption. The situation is out of our control and the life of another human is far more important than a game of cricket; it is within the spirit of the game to respect the medical staff as they carry out their work.

Any interruption to a match will be treated in the same manner as a delay brought about by rain. No game has lost overs due to such an interruption, as time has been made up by taking an early tea/continuing later into the evening etc.
