Kev Sims’s Travellers 2nd XI travelled to Dinton 2nd XI in a top table
clash to fall 7 runs short in a hot, tight encounter.

After losing the toss again, Travellers were put out to field in the heat
of the day. Travellers made steady progress through the Dinton batting line
up picking up some key wickets with, in some cases, what can only be
described as unusual ways. Kev(when I was 1st team skipper) Allen taking
the pick with a caught behind off the back of the bat. Line and length
bowing from Lee (get in there) Fitzpatrick (2 for 48) and Shiv Banergee (2
for 31) both from 10 overs kept the runs down. Support bowling from Kev
(just one more) Allen, Neil (is it Ant or Dec) Henderson, Dave (how many
times is it suppose to bounce, if at all) Allen and Steve Noton kept Dinton
to a respectable 189 for 6
After a filling lunch Which Ludo (3 slices) Kowalski took full advantage of
Travellers took to the run chase. Opening bats Kev Sims and Clive Nicholls
made steady progress before the partnership was broken at 45 in the 11th
over. The runs then became hard to get due to very good bowling and
fielding positions, Neil Henderson soon followed back to the hutch. Dave
Allen and Clive Nicholls took the score onto 105 before Dave finally
connected with the ball only to be caught out for 21. Clive Nicholls was
the next to depart for an exhausting 45. Two more quick wickets fell
leaving the chase to Graham Baker and Shiv Banergee to push for home with
the overs running out and the sun still beating down. Travellers eventually
reaching 182 for 6 after their 42 overs falling short by 7 runs with Graham
Baker on 40 and Shiv Banergee 22 both undefeated, leaving Dinton to take
the spoils and remain top of the league unbeaten.

Next game is a home fixture V Bramshaw 3rd XI, Saturday 24th June
