Winning Form Continues

by Ian Burrows 0 Comments

The first team travelled to Mottisfont hoping to continue their good start
to the season. We lost the toss and had to field first. This turned out to
be no bad thing as Mottisfont struggled for runs (25-1 off the first 18
overs and 15 maidens in the innings). As the innings progressed we missed a
couple of catches but held some important ones: notably Abhijit’s
outstanding diving effort at slip off Shiv and John’s standing up to Chris
to break a stubborn partnership. All the bowlers contributed whether
through wickets or keeping the runs down. Shiv and Chris ended with 3 each
and Lee took two including the opposition’s danger man, well caught by
Chris on the boundary. The skipper brought himself on for an over after a
slight miscalculation about who could bowl where and snaffled a wicket with
a slower ball! Mottisfont were all out for 125.

We chased our target without too many alarms, winning with 12 overs to
spare and Abhijit a very impressive 75 not out. Earlier Dave S had got us
off to a decent start with 18. Our 7 wicket victory was worth 23 points.
Next week we play Stockbridge at home!
