Broughton CC vs Southampton Travellers II

by Ian Burrows 0 Comments

The last time I played at Broughton, it was a low scoring game. Saturday was
no different apart from the fact that it was us that were bowled out
cheaply. The first over started OK with a couple of wides and singles until
Simon Allen was bowled for 1 run. The 2nd over also started well…for the
opposition, with 2 more wickets falling, Jacob Samuel bowled for 1 and
Roshan bowled for 0. Shane Smith survived 5 balls before being given lbw
for 1. 7 for 4 after 3 overs. Dave Allen did a sterling job on a difficult
track top scoring with 14 before being bowled. Leigh Sign made it to double
figures but paid the price for an indecisive shot and was sent back to the
pavillion for 11. New signing Jordan Payne looked good for his 3. Tony
Robins and Lee Fitzpatrick ending with 1 apiece. Noton not out for 0.

The first three Broughton batsmen all scored runs taking the score into the
40s. With only 47 needed for the win, the result was inevitable. Shane
Smith and Lee Fitzpatrick bowled well taking the innings into the 12th
over. Smith finished with 1-32 and Fitzpatrick a creditable 4-17. As always
with low scoring games another 40 runs might have made all the difference!

Roll on next week.
