Nice ground shame about the result

The first team played at the very pleasant Farley ground on Saturday and
lost quite comfortably after a disappointing batting performance.

We lost the toss and were in the field but took 2 early wickets . After
this Farley scored steadily on a good wicket with short square boundaries.
The bowling was good as was the fielding in the main, with the highlights a
blinding catch by Shiv and another very good one from Ed. Matt took 3
wickets including a bowled which broke a stump and Ian got 2, with 1 each
for Chris and Bill. Unusually this season Shiv was wicketless. Dave
Sturridge was behind the wicket and gave an exemplary display. Given the
circumstances a total of 200-7 to chase was pretty reasonable, possibly a
few below a par score.

When we batted the start was encouraging and we were just relaxing on the
boundary when the first wicket fell with the score on 23. A flurry of
wickets followed against accurate bowling with only Shiv of the batsmen
reaching 20. Tellingly 3 of the four top scores came from bowlers batting
at numbers 8, 10 and 11 and the largest partnership was for the final
wicket! We were finally dismissed for 140 to lose by 60 runs taking just 6
