Spectacular batting collapse by second team

by Ian Burrows 0 Comments

The second team had 11 players for the away game at Ampfield which survived
the damp conditions. We won the toss and fielded. In a good performance we
restricted our opponents to 124 for 8. There were 2 wickets each for Ian,
Bill, and Shiv B and one each for Steve (a rare LBW) and Kartik who bowled
well on debut. There were good catches from Kev, Dave A and Shiv off his
own bowling; also a sharp stumping from Ludo. Lee made some good stops in
the field and 12 year old Luke saved runs at short fine leg.
We opened with Dave S and Kev and they both played good shots to get us to
43 for no wicket. Around this time I commented that we were going to see
our points total for the season rise above zero: I should have known
better. Once Dave was out wickets tumbled and we were all out for 79. The
opposition bowled tidily but there were some poor shots and Ampfield held
all their catches. Luke was not out at the end so well done to him!
A full score card will appear on Play cricket in a day or two.
The seconds have a free week next week so we will aim for a better batting
performance away to Easton and Martyr Worthy on June 29th.
