Second team in disappointingly one-sided win
The second team played Cadnam 3rds on a damp pitch at Lordshill. Cadnam won
the toss and batted first. They struggled throughout against accurate
bowling. Debutant Jose Joseph bowled quickly to get 3 early wickets. Ian
also took 3 wickets and Malick 2, with 2 run outs. Cadnam could only manage
44, exactly half their runs coming from a youngster who hit the ball well.
Needing only 45 Simon fell early but then Kev and Chris Vallis, also on
debut, knocked of the runs in 4.5 overs. Chris almost ‘did an Abhijit’ with
one straight 6 hitting the very top of the fence into the school grounds.
The Cadnam skipper was apologetic at tea for their weak team and admitted
they had batted to ensure they did not suffer a long spell in the field on
such a windswept afternoon.
