Another win for 2s

by Ian Burrows 0 Comments

Trojans won the toss and elected to bat, Karthik and Ian Burrows opened the
bowling. The first wicket fell in the 4th over and was quickly followed on
the next ball by the 2nd. The 3rd wicket fell in the 5th over and the score
was 1-3 off 5. Karthik took another wicket in the 8th over taking the score
to 8-4 off 8. Dan Austin and Malik Kudmany replaced Karthik and
Burrows(5-2-6-1). Having not bowled for a while, Dan looked a little rusty
but improved with every ball bowled. He finished his 5 over spell with a 2
wicket maiden (5-1-25-2). Malik did an excellent job at the David Lloyd end
with figures of 6-3-6-1. Steve Noton completed the bowling line up with 2
wickets from 2 overs for 4 runs. Karthik(5.1-3-5-4) returned for one ball
to take the 10th wicket with an excellent catch in the slips. Trojans all
out for 47 off 23.1 overs.

It was decided to take tea after Travellers innings. The batting line up
was spearheaded by a trio of Allens – Simon and Kev to bat 1 and 2 with
Dave Allen at 3. It was immediately clear that the colts of Trojans were a
much better bowling side. Scoring was slow and this was compounded by the
loss of the first wicket in the 2nd over, Kev Allen out for 0. Simon Allen
faired slightly better before being caught for 8 in the 5th over. Dave
Allen followed in the next over, bowled for 2 runs. Lee Stark seemed to
enjoy his time in the middle hitting his first boundary for Travellers. He
was out for 6 in the 10th over. Up next Karthik and Malik who proceeded to
steady the ship with Karthik hitting some big boundaries. Early nerves were
settled and the score quickly raced to 46. The game was won with a huge 6
from Karthik in the 13th over.

Excellent win against a Trojans side mainly comprised of Colts. The game
was played in good spirits and after tea we played a 16 over friendly which
Trojans won. The highlight of the day would have to be Ludo’s 2 over spell
: 2-0-7-3.
